In this project, I tried to reflect on my depression and visualize it through photography and physical collage. I chose saran wrap as the main medium for college because it has similar aspects to the depression I had been through. During the depression, I felt choky, just like something covered my face. I also didn’t want to reveal this mental state to others, even somebody who supported me. I sometimes felt like I could overcome this lethargic and depressed mental state, but it remained still. I thought these aspects of depression overlapped with translucent saran wrap. So, I took self-portraits and tried to visualize my depression through the colors of photographs and saran wrap on them.
