During the past year, I have been making a collection of paintings to celebrate and honor my grandpa and his persimmon farm. I painted “Grandpa’s Persimmons” as a gift for him. I painted the “Last Visit at the Farm” series after his passing. Using reference images I took during my last visit to his farm, I intuitively painted a collaged composition for each painting to mimic how I perceive my own memories. I inlaid dirt collected from his farm into these panels to reference place and growth.
