Abstraction
A collection of work Juried by Ron Fondaw
Abstraction serves us uniquely because the image is not a recognizable or familiar subject we will find in the “Outside World” it forces us to dive inward for an associated connection. This “Fight or Flight” mechanism of our brain is so powerful that full abstraction will only last Mila seconds before we see something we can name. The “Rorschack Test” is evidence of this phenomena. That short time between seeing the abstract image and making an association is sacried time and the longer we can stave off naming it, the more time we can devote to the mystical/inner realm. It was wonderful to see the energy and insight that went into the work for this show. Several artists proclaimed the work to be a vehicle for self-discovery. Some are fascinated by process and materials and others by the endless diversity of nature.
